1. Preparation

• Tools Required: Brake bleeder kit, wrench (typically 10mm), clear tubing, brake fluid (DOT 4), safety glasses, and gloves.
• Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
• Remove the wheel covering the brake caliper you will start with (usually the rear passenger side).
• Ensure the brake fluid reservoir is full.

2. Bleed the Brakes

a. Locate the Bleed Valve

• Identify the bleed valve on the brake caliper (usually at the top).

b. Attach Tubing

• Place a clear plastic tube over the bleed valve and submerge the other end in a container with brake fluid to catch any expelled fluid.

c. Open the Bleed Valve

• Use the wrench to open the bleed valve slightly (about a quarter turn) while an assistant presses the brake pedal.

d. Pump the Brake Pedal

• Have your assistant pump the brake pedal several times and hold it down.
• While the pedal is held down, open the bleed valve and watch for fluid and air bubbles to escape.

e. Close the Bleed Valve

• Once the fluid flow appears steady without air bubbles, close the bleed valve while the pedal is still pressed.
• Instruct your assistant to release the brake pedal slowly.
