Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Oil filter wrench
    • Oil catch pan
    • Funnel
    • Torque wrench
    • Rags or paper towels
  • Parts Required:
    • Engine oil (5W-30 or as specified in the manual)
    • New oil filter
  • Ensure the engine is turned off and has cooled down before beginning.
2. Drain Old Oil
  • Place the oil catch pan under the oil drain plug.
  • Use the socket wrench to loosen and remove the drain plug. Allow the old oil to fully drain into the catch pan.
  • Clean the drain plug and replace the washer if needed. Reinstall the drain plug and tighten it to the manufacturer's torque specification (typically around 22 ft-lbs).
3. Replace Oil Filter
  • Use the oil filter wrench to loosen and remove the old oil filter. Be cautious as it may still contain oil.
  • Lubricate the rubber gasket on the new oil filter with a little fresh oil.
  • Install the new oil filter by hand, tightening it according to the manufacturer's specifications.
4. Add New Oil
  • Remove the oil filler cap on top of the engine.
  • Using a funnel, pour the new engine oil into the oil filler neck. Refer to the owner's manual for the correct oil capacity (usually around 5-6 quarts).
  • Replace the oil filler cap securely.
5. Final Checks
  • Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check for leaks around the oil filter and drain plug.
  • Turn off the engine and wait a minute. Check the oil level using the dipstick and add more oil if necessary.
