Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner, socket set, torque wrench, compression tester, fuel injector cleaner.
  • Safety Warnings: Disconnect the battery before starting any electrical work. Allow the engine to cool before working on it.
2. Replace Spark Plug
  • Remove the engine cover if applicable.
  • Locate the spark plug for cylinder 1 (usually on the side of the engine).
  • Use a socket wrench to remove the existing spark plug.
  • Inspect and clean the spark plug hole to prevent debris from entering the cylinder.
  • Install a new spark plug with the recommended gap (refer to the vehicle manual for specifications).
  • Torque the spark plug to the manufacturer's specified value (typically around 20-25 Nm).
3. Replace Ignition Coil
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition coil for cylinder 1.
  • Remove the retaining bolt securing the ignition coil.
  • Pull the ignition coil out of the cylinder head.
  • Install the new ignition coil and secure it with the retaining bolt.
  • Reconnect the electrical connector.
4. Clean or Replace Fuel Injector
  • If fuel injector cleaning is chosen, disconnect the fuel line and electrical connector.
  • Use an appropriate fuel injector cleaner per manufacturer instructions.
  • If replacing, remove the fuel injector by unbolting its bracket and pulling it out.
  • Install the new fuel injector, ensuring it is seated properly, and reconnect the fuel line and electrical connector.
5. Check Compression
  • Remove the spark plug from cylinder 1.
  • Insert the compression tester into the spark plug hole.
  • Crank the engine and take note of the reading.
  • Compare the reading with manufacturer specifications (usually around 150-200 psi).
  • If the compression is low, further inspection may be required for valves or piston damage.
