Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Allow the engine to cool if it has been running.

Tools Required:

  • Socket set
  • Torque wrench
  • Fluid funnel
  • Pliers
  • OBD-II scanner
2. Check and Refill Power Steering Fluid
  • Locate the power steering fluid reservoir.
  • Remove the cap and check the fluid level. If low, add the manufacturer's recommended power steering fluid to the appropriate level.
  • Recheck for leaks after refilling.
3. Inspect and Replace the Power Steering Pump (if necessary)
  • Remove the serpentine belt:

    • Use a socket to release tension on the tensioner pulley and slide the belt off.
  • Disconnect the power steering pump:

    • Unplug any electrical connectors attached to the pump.
    • Using a socket set, remove the bolts securing the pump to the engine.
  • Remove the pump:

    • Carefully pull the pump away from the bracket and disconnect the hoses. Use pliers if necessary to loosen hose clamps.
  • Install the new pump:

    • Connect the hoses to the new pump and secure them with clamps.
    • Position the new pump in place and align it with the mounting holes.
    • Tighten the mounting bolts to the manufacturer’s specified torque.
4. Reinstall the Serpentine Belt
  • Re-route the serpentine belt over the pulleys according to the belt routing diagram.
  • Use the tensioner to apply tension and ensure the belt is seated properly.
5. Bleed the Power Steering System
  • Start the engine and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock to purge air from the system.
  • Check the fluid level again, topping off as necessary.
