Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, spark plug socket, extension bar, and a gapping tool.
  • Safety Warnings: Disconnect the battery before starting. Allow the engine to cool completely.
2. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Remove the screws or bolts securing the engine cover using the socket set.
  • Gently lift off the engine cover and set it aside.
3. Access Spark Plugs
  • Locate the ignition coils on top of the spark plugs.
  • Disconnect the electrical connectors from each ignition coil by pressing the release tab and pulling them out.
4. Remove Ignition Coils
  • Use the socket set to remove the bolts securing each ignition coil.
  • Carefully pull each ignition coil out of the spark plug hole. If it is stuck, gently twist and wiggle to loosen it.
5. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Use the spark plug socket and extension bar to unscrew each old spark plug from the cylinder head.
  • Inspect the removed spark plugs for signs of wear or fouling.
6. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Check the gap on the new spark plugs using a gapping tool and adjust if necessary to the manufacturer's specification.
  • Carefully thread each new spark plug into the cylinder head by hand to prevent cross-threading.
  • Use the torque wrench to tighten each spark plug to the specified torque (usually around 22 lb-ft, but check the manufacturer's specification).
7. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the inside of the ignition coil boot to ensure a good seal.
  • Reinsert the ignition coils into their respective holes and secure them with bolts.
  • Reconnect the electrical connectors to each ignition coil.
8. Reinstall Engine Cover
  • Place the engine cover back onto the engine and secure it with screws or bolts.
9. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the battery terminal and ensure it is tight.
