Solution

1. Preparation

• Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench, brake cleaner, torque wrench.
• Safety Warnings: Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface, and engage the parking brake.

2. Raise the Vehicle

• Loosen the lug nuts on the wheels.
• Use the jack to lift the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
• Remove the wheels to access the brake components.

3. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads

• Inspect the brake pads for thickness; they should be at least 3mm thick.
• If worn, remove the caliper bolts using a socket set.
• Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor and support it to avoid straining the brake line.
• Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
• Clean the caliper bracket with brake cleaner and ensure it’s free of debris.
• Install new brake pads, ensuring they are properly seated.

4. Inspect and Replace Brake Rotors (if necessary)

• Check the rotors for any grooves or warping. If damaged, replace them.
• Remove the caliper bracket bolts and detach the caliper bracket.
• Remove the rotor from the hub; it may require tapping with a hammer if stuck.
• Clean the hub surface and install the new rotor, ensuring it is flush against the hub.

5. Reassemble

• Reattach the caliper bracket and torque to manufacturer's specifications.
• Reinstall the caliper over the new pads and secure it.
• Reattach the wheel and tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern.
