Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Torque wrench
    • Ratchet
    • Serpentine belt tool or a 3/8" drive ratchet
    • Safety gloves
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent any electrical shorts or shocks.
2. Remove the Old Serpentine Belt
  • Locate the serpentine belt tensioner.
  • Use the serpentine belt tool or ratchet to relieve tension on the belt by rotating the tensioner counterclockwise.
  • While holding the tensioner, slide the belt off one of the pulleys and slowly release the tensioner.
  • Carefully remove the belt from all pulleys, noting the routing path for installation of the new belt.
3. Install the New Serpentine Belt
  • Refer to the belt routing diagram often found on a sticker under the hood or in the vehicle's service manual.
  • Position the new serpentine belt over all pulleys except for the tensioner.
  • Use the serpentine belt tool or ratchet to rotate the tensioner counterclockwise again.
  • Slide the belt over the tensioner pulley while maintaining tension.
  • Release the tensioner slowly and ensure the belt is seated properly on all pulleys.
4. Reconnect the Battery
  • Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
  • Ensure all tools are removed from the engine compartment.
