Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, wheel chocks, socket set, torque wrench, strut spring compressor, and safety glasses.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical issues.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use the jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle (depending on which strut is leaking).
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands for safety.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Remove the lug nuts using a socket wrench.
  • Take off the wheel to access the strut assembly.
4. Remove the Strut Assembly
  • Top Mount Bolts: Locate and remove the top mount bolts securing the strut to the vehicle body using a socket wrench.
  • Lower Mount Bolts: Remove the lower mount bolts connecting the strut to the steering knuckle.
  • Carefully lower the strut assembly from the vehicle.
5. Replace the Strut
  • If replacing the strut, compress the coil spring using a strut spring compressor.
  • Remove the old strut from the spring and install the new strut into the spring.
  • Reassemble the strut assembly by reversing the removal process, ensuring all nuts and bolts are torqued to manufacturer specifications.
6. Reinstall Wheel and Lower Vehicle
  • Reattach the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground and torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications.
7. Final Checks
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Inspect for leaks around the new strut and ensure all components are secured.
