Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Oil filter wrench, socket set, oil catch pan, rags, funnel, new oil filter, engine oil (as specified in owner’s manual).
  • Safety Warnings: Ensure the engine is cool before starting. Disconnect the battery before working on electrical components.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front of the vehicle and securely support it with jack stands.
3. Drain Engine Oil
  • Place an oil catch pan under the oil pan.
  • Remove the oil drain plug using a socket wrench and allow the oil to fully drain into the pan.
  • Replace the drain plug and tighten it to the manufacturer’s specified torque (typically 25-30 Nm).
4. Remove Old Oil Filter
  • Locate the oil filter (typically on the side of the engine).
  • Use an oil filter wrench to loosen and remove the old oil filter. Be cautious as some oil may still remain in the filter.
  • Wipe the mounting surface on the engine with a clean rag to remove any residual oil or debris.
5. Install New Oil Filter
  • Apply a small amount of new engine oil to the rubber O-ring of the new oil filter to ensure a proper seal.
  • Screw the new oil filter onto the engine by hand until it is snug, then give it an additional 3/4 turn.
6. Refill Engine Oil
  • Remove the oil filler cap on the top of the engine.
  • Using a funnel, pour in the specified amount of new engine oil (as per the owner's manual, usually around 5-7 quarts).
  • Replace the oil filler cap.
7. Check for Leaks
  • Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes while checking for any leaks around the oil filter and drain plug.
  • Turn off the engine and check the oil level again with the dipstick, adding oil if necessary.
