Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts.
  • Tools Required:
    • Jack and jack stands
    • Lug wrench
    • Socket set
    • Brake caliper tool (if needed)
    • Brake cleaner
    • Torque wrench
    • Pliers
  • Parts Required:
    • Brake caliper (if damaged)
    • Brake pads (if worn unevenly)
    • Brake fluid
  • Raise the vehicle and securely support it with jack stands.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Use the lug wrench to remove the lug nuts.
  • Carefully remove the wheel and set it aside.
3. Remove Brake Caliper
  • Use the socket set to remove the caliper mounting bolts.
  • Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor; do not let it hang from the brake line.
  • Hang the caliper using a bungee cord or rope to prevent stress on the brake line.
4. Inspect and Clean
  • Inspect the caliper for rust, corrosion, or damage.
  • Clean the caliper using brake cleaner. Pay particular attention to the piston and bore.
  • If the caliper is excessively damaged or corroded, replace it.
5. Rebuild or Replace Caliper
  • If caliper is reusable, inspect the piston for scratches; replace piston seals if necessary.
  • If replacing, install the new caliper following manufacturer instructions.
  • Ensure proper alignment with the mounting bracket.
6. Reassemble Brake Components
  • Reinstall the caliper and secure it with the mounting bolts. Use a torque wrench to tighten bolts to manufacturer specifications.
  • Reinstall brake pads if they are in good condition or replace them if worn.
7. Reinstall Wheel and Lower Vehicle
  • Place the wheel back onto the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle and then torque the lug nuts to the specified value.
8. Test Brake Function
  • Pump the brake pedal a few times to ensure the caliper piston extends properly.
  • Check for leaks around the caliper and brake lines.
