Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Safely raise the vehicle using a jack and secure with jack stands.
2. Identify the Leak Source
  • Clean the area around the suspected leak with a degreaser.
  • Apply UV dye to the transmission fluid if not already done, and run the engine for a few minutes.
  • Use a UV light to identify the leak location.
3. Replace Damaged Components

If the leak is from the transmission pan:

  • Remove the Transmission Pan
    • Drain the transmission fluid into a pan.
    • Unscrew the bolts securing the pan and gently remove it.
  • Replace the Gasket
    • Clean the mating surfaces thoroughly.
    • Install a new gasket and reattach the pan, tightening bolts to the manufacturer’s torque specifications (usually around 10-12 ft-lbs).

If the leak is from the cooler lines:

  • Remove and Replace the Lines
    • Disconnect the lines from the transmission and the cooler.
    • Install the new lines and ensure they are securely fastened.

If the leak is from seals:

  • Replace Seals
    • Identify which seal is leaking (input shaft, output shaft, etc.).
    • Remove the necessary components to access the seal.
    • Replace the seal and reassemble the components.
4. Refill Transmission Fluid
  • Use the appropriate type of transmission fluid as specified in the owner’s manual.
  • Fill through the dipstick tube using a funnel, ensuring the correct level is reached.
5. Test for Leaks
  • Start the vehicle and let it reach operating temperature.
  • Check the area around the repair for any signs of leakage.
