Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts before starting the repair. Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and securely elevated.
  • Tools Required: Jack and jack stands, lug wrench, brake cleaner, torque wrench, socket set, C-clamp or brake pad tool.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Loosen the lug nuts slightly while the vehicle is still on the ground.
  • Raise the vehicle with the jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Completely remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel to expose the brake components.
3. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  • Remove the caliper by unscrewing the caliper bolts with the appropriate socket.
  • Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor and support it without stretching the brake line.
  • Check the pads: if uneven wear is present, remove the pads by sliding them out of the caliper bracket.
  • If replacing: Compare the old pads with new ones to ensure correct sizing.
  • Apply brake grease to the back of the new pads to prevent noise and ensure smooth operation.
  • Install the new pads by sliding them into the caliper bracket.
4. Inspect and Replace Brake Rotors (if necessary)
  • Check the rotors for warping or excessive wear. If they are damaged, they should be replaced.
  • To remove, unscrew the retaining screws (if applicable) and slide the rotor off the hub.
  • Install new rotors by aligning them properly on the hub and securing them with screws.
5. Reassemble the Brake System
  • Reattach the caliper over the new brake pads and rotor.
  • Secure the caliper with the original bolts, tightening them to the manufacturer’s specified torque settings.
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
6. Lower the Vehicle and Finalize
  • Lower the vehicle off the jack stands and remove the jack.
  • Tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s torque specifications in a crisscross pattern to ensure even tightening.
  • Pump the brake pedal several times to ensure proper brake pad seating and fluid movement.
