Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Use jack stands to securely lift and support the vehicle after using a floor jack.
2. Remove the Wheel
  • Tools Required: Lug wrench
  • Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel where the strut is leaking.
  • Raise the vehicle with a floor jack and support it on jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
3. Remove the Strut Assembly
  • Tools Required: Socket set, wrench set
  • Disconnect any brake line or sensor wire attached to the strut.
  • Remove the bolts securing the strut to the steering knuckle.
  • Remove the upper strut mount bolts located at the top of the strut assembly in the engine bay.
  • Carefully pull the strut assembly out of its mounting location.
4. Replace the Strut
  • Tools Required: Spring compressor (if reusing springs), torque wrench
  • If reusing the coil spring, use a spring compressor to safely compress the spring.
  • Remove the top strut mount and replace it with a new one if necessary.
  • Install the new strut into the strut assembly.
  • If using a new strut, ensure it's compatible with the vehicle model.
5. Reinstall the Strut Assembly
  • Position the new strut into the strut mount location.
  • Secure the strut to the upper mount with bolts, tightening them to the manufacturer’s specified torque.
  • Attach the strut to the steering knuckle and secure it with the bolts, also tightening to the specified torque.
  • Reconnect any brake lines or sensor wires that were removed.
6. Reinstall the Wheel
  • Place the wheel back onto the hub.
  • Hand-tighten the lug nuts, then lower the vehicle off the jack stands using the floor jack.
  • Once the vehicle is on the ground, tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
