Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials needed for the job.
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Fluid transfer pump or turkey baster
    • Clean rags
    • Container for old fluid
    • Funnel
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Ensure the engine is off and cool before starting the procedure.
    • Wear gloves and safety glasses to protect against fluid spills.
2. Remove Old Power Steering Fluid
  1. Locate the power steering fluid reservoir, typically found near the front of the engine bay.
  2. Use the fluid transfer pump or turkey baster to siphon out as much old fluid as possible from the reservoir.
  3. Wipe the inside of the reservoir with a clean rag to remove any residue.
3. Refill with New Power Steering Fluid
  1. Refer to the owner's manual for the correct type of power steering fluid (usually Volvo-approved fluid).
  2. Using a funnel, pour the new power steering fluid into the reservoir until it reaches the full mark.
  3. Replace the reservoir cap securely.
4. Bleed the Power Steering System
  1. Start the engine and turn the steering wheel fully to the left and then to the right several times to circulate the new fluid and remove any air pockets.
  2. Check the fluid level again and top off if necessary.
  3. Observe for any signs of leaks around the hoses and fittings.
5. Final Check
  1. Turn off the engine and check the fluid level once more after a short period.
  2. Ensure all tools are removed from the engine bay and the area is clean.
