Solution
1. Preparation
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Safety gear such as gloves and safety goggles should be worn.
2. Top Off Power Steering Fluid
  • Remove the cap from the power steering fluid reservoir.
  • If the fluid is low, add the manufacturer-recommended power steering fluid until it reaches the correct level.
  • Replace the cap securely.
3. Replace Power Steering Pump (if diagnosed as faulty)
  • Tools Required: Socket set, wrench set, fluid catch pan, power steering fluid, new power steering pump.
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
    2. Remove the drive belt from the power steering pump by loosening the tensioner.
    3. Disconnect the power steering lines from the pump using the appropriate wrench.
    4. Remove the mounting bolts securing the pump to the engine and take out the pump.
    5. Install the new power steering pump by reversing the removal steps.
    6. Reconnect the power steering lines and ensure they are tight.
    7. Reinstall the drive belt and adjust tension as necessary.
4. Bleed the Power Steering System
  • Tools Required: Power steering fluid.
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Fill the power steering fluid reservoir to the proper level.
    2. Start the engine and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock several times to purge air from the system.
    3. Check the fluid level again and top off if necessary.
