Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, jack stands, floor jack, strut spring compressor, torque wrench, screwdriver set, and safety goggles.
  • Raise the vehicle using a floor jack and secure it on jack stands.
  • Remove the wheel corresponding to the strut being replaced.
2. Remove Strut Assembly
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Remove the brake line bracket from the strut, if applicable.
    2. Disconnect the sway bar link from the strut.
    3. Unbolt the lower strut mount from the control arm.
    4. Inside the engine bay, remove the nuts securing the top strut mount to the strut tower.
    5. Carefully pull the strut assembly from the vehicle.
3. Replace Strut
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Use a strut spring compressor to compress the spring on the old strut.
    2. Remove the top nut securing the strut mount and take off the strut mount.
    3. Install the strut mount onto the new strut and secure it with the top nut (ensure proper torque according to specifications).
    4. Release the spring compressor gradually to allow the spring to seat properly on the new strut.
4. Install New Strut
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Position the new strut assembly into the strut tower and secure it with the top nuts.
    2. Reattach the lower strut mount to the control arm and torque to specifications.
    3. Reconnect the sway bar link and ensure it is tight.
    4. If applicable, reattach the brake line bracket to the strut.
5. Reassemble
  • Replace the wheel and lower the vehicle.
  • Torque the wheel bolts to manufacturer specifications.
