Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all required tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical issues during the procedure.
2. Remove Fuel Injectors
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdriver, fuel line disconnect tool, torque wrench.
  • Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and starting the engine until it stalls.
  • Disconnect the fuel lines using the fuel line disconnect tool, taking care to catch any spilled fuel.
  • Unplug electrical connectors from each fuel injector.
  • Remove the fuel rail bolts with a socket wrench and lift the fuel rail with the injectors attached off the engine.
3. Clean Fuel Injectors
  • Tools Required: Ultrasonic cleaner or fuel injector cleaning kit, cleaning solvent.
  • Place the injectors in an ultrasonic cleaner filled with cleaning solvent, ensuring they are fully submerged.
  • Operate the cleaner for the manufacturer-recommended time (usually 15-30 minutes).
  • After cleaning, visually inspect the injectors for cleanliness and ensure the spray pattern is even (if possible).
4. Reinstall Fuel Injectors
  • Apply a small amount of engine oil to the O-rings of each injector to ensure a good seal.
  • Reinsert the cleaned injectors into the fuel rail.
  • Carefully position the fuel rail back onto the engine and secure it with the bolts to the manufacturer-specified torque.
  • Reconnect the electrical connectors and fuel lines, ensuring they are securely fastened.
5. Final System Check
  • Reconnect the battery and replace the fuel pump fuse.
  • Turn the key to the "On" position (without starting) to prime the fuel system and check for leaks.
  • Start the engine and allow it to idle, checking for smooth operation.
