Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required.
  • Safely park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Loosen the lug nuts on the wheels of the respective shock absorbers without removing them.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to raise the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheels to access the shock absorbers.
3. Remove Old Shocks
  • Locate the upper and lower mounting bolts of the shock absorbers.
  • Use a socket wrench to remove the upper mounting bolt(s) first.
  • Then, remove the lower mounting bolt(s) to detach the shock from the vehicle.
  • Carefully remove the shock absorber from its mounting location.
4. Install New Shocks
  • Position the new shock absorber in place, ensuring it aligns with the mounting points.
  • Begin by installing the lower mounting bolt and tightening it to the manufacturer’s torque specifications.
  • Next, install the upper mounting bolt and tighten it as well.
5. Reassemble
  • Reattach the wheels and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle to the ground and then torque the lug nuts to the correct specifications.
  • Repeat the process for the other side if replacing both shock absorbers.
6. Final Inspection
  • Check all mounting bolts to ensure they are properly torqued.
  • Inspect the shock absorbers for proper installation.
