Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and safety equipment.
  • Tools: Jack, jack stands, socket set, torque wrench, pry bar, and a safety helmet.
  • Safety Warning: Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and the parking brake is engaged before lifting.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use the jack to lift the front or rear (depending on where the noise is coming from) of the vehicle.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands to ensure stability.
3. Inspect and Replace Suspension Components
  • Shock Absorbers/Struts:

    • Remove the wheels for better access.
    • Unbolt the top and bottom of the strut assembly.
    • Replace with new shock absorbers/struts if they show signs of leakage or failure.
    • Torque bolts to manufacturer specifications (consult service manual for exact torque values).
  • Sway Bar Links:

    • Inspect sway bar links for wear or detachment.
    • Remove bolts connecting the sway bar links to the sway bar and lower control arms.
    • Replace with new sway bar links if necessary, and torque bolts to specifications.
4. Reassemble and Lower Vehicle
  • Reinstall the wheels and tighten the lug nuts in a crisscross pattern.
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground.
  • Ensure all components are secured and properly torqued.
