Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: socket set, screwdriver set, coolant funnel, OBD-II scanner.
  • Ensure the engine is cool before beginning work to prevent burns.
2. Coolant Replacement
  1. Drain the Coolant:
    • Place a drain pan under the radiator.
    • Open the radiator drain valve and allow coolant to flow out completely.
  2. Inspect and Replace:
    • Inspect hoses and clamps for wear; replace any that are damaged.
    • If coolant is contaminated or old, proceed to replace it.
    • Close the drain valve once done.
  3. Refill Coolant:
    • Using a funnel, refill the radiator and coolant reservoir with the manufacturer-recommended coolant type.
3. Thermostat Inspection and Replacement
  1. Remove Thermostat:
    • Disconnect the battery.
    • Remove hoses connected to the thermostat housing.
    • Unbolt the thermostat housing and take out the thermostat.
  2. Install New Thermostat:
    • Compare the old thermostat with the new one for compatibility.
    • Install the new thermostat with a new gasket to prevent leaks.
    • Reattach the housing and hoses securely. Torque bolts to specifications.
4. Water Pump Inspection
  1. Inspect the Water Pump:
    • Check for signs of coolant leakage around the water pump.
    • Listen for unusual noises indicating failure.
  2. Replace Water Pump (if faulty):
    • Disconnect the battery and drain the coolant.
    • Remove any belts and hoses connected to the water pump.
    • Unbolt the water pump and replace it with a new one.
    • Reassemble all components and refill with coolant.
5. Cooling Fan Check
  • Ensure cooling fans activate when the engine reaches operating temperature.
  • If not, check the fan relay and fuse; replace if necessary.
