1. Preparation

  • Remove the upstream (pre-catalytic) oxygen sensor:

    2. Use the O2 sensor socket to remove the sensor from the exhaust manifold.
    3. Install the new oxygen sensor and torque it to the manufacturer’s specifications (typically around 30 ft-lbs).
    4. Reconnect the electrical connector.
  • Repeat the same steps for the downstream (post-catalytic) oxygen sensor.
